July 14th marks the 104th anniversary of the birth of the late, legendary William Hanna. Hanna and his partner Joseph Barbera originated an amazingly huge chunk of cartoon history: Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Top Cat, Jonny Quest, Hong Kong Phooey, Jabberjaw, The Banana Splits, and so forth. They of course produced and directed the original Oscar-winning Tom And Jerry shorts for Metro-Goldwyn-yer between 1940 and 1958, and executive-produced The New Tom & Jerry Show in 1975-76 for The ABC Television Network.

Hanna was born on July 14th, 1910, and succumbed to throat cancer on March 22, 2001, at the age of 90. To absent friends...
